INSTRUCTIONS
Materials:
- Coffee filters
- Markers
- Glue
- Markers
- 2 green craft sticks
- Pipette
- Water
Step 1
Use markers to color all the coffee filters. You can color as little or as much as you want – it will look great either way! You should prompt your child to use multiple colors on each coffee filter.
Step 2
You may want to cover your workplace before this step!
Use the pipette to drip water on all the coffee filters until saturated. Show your child how to use the pipette but let them do it on their own. This is a great fine motor activity!
While you are doing this, talk about how the colors are mixing together and spreading all around. Talk about what new colors may be forming, if any.
Step 3
Leave coffee filters to dry (it may take a few hours).
Step 4
Once dry, crumble up the coffee filters so they become crinkled (otherwise they will be very flat).
Step 5
Now it’s time to glue the flowers together. You have enough materials to make 2 flowers: each will have 2 coffee filters and one craft stick.
You need to glue the centers of the two coffee filters together and then mount them to the stick. (Make sure not to use too much glue!)
